ColourPop Cherry Up & Roll Out Glossy Lip Stains Reviews & Swatches

Cherry Up

ColourPop Cherry Up Glossy Lip Stain ($8.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a more muted, medium red with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. The gloss appeared more generous and almost brownish when swatched. Still, it developed a pinky-red stain underneath, which made the overall color only a little warm-toned (this happened within a couple of minutes).

It initially had a lightweight, more watery consistency, which became slightly thicker and a touch tacky after a minute of wear. It had medium, buildable pigmentation, as marketed, that applied evenly and stayed on well for five and a half hours. There was a light stain that lingered for another hour or so.

It’s supposed to have the “long-lasting powers of a lip stain” with the “shine of a gloss” paired with “medium to buildable coverage” that is “non-drying.” The initial texture was almost watery, overly spreadable (and the applicator often picked up more product than necessary, so take care during application). Still, it dried down to a more satiny shine that was less glossy and more like a satin lipstick with some translucency.

The initial shine wore off within two hours, so it looked like an authentic satin finish–this was true of doing nothing or just taking a drink of glass as it wasn’t transfer-resistant. The stain did not power through a meal and tended to leave a solid ring around the edges of my lips as it wore away so quickly while eating. Left to their own devices, most shades wore around six hours with a faint stain left behind.

It had medium, buildable coverage but quickly built to more semi-opaque coverage without an official second layer (just going back and forth to get an even layer of product). A couple of shades were more faithful to medium, and others were more semi-opaque from the first layer. There didn’t seem to be any added fragrance nor taste while worn. Roll Out

ColourPop Roll Out Glossy Lip Stain ($8.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a bright coral with warm, orange undertones and a glossy finish. It ended up looking redder on my lips as the underlying stain was more of a warm red than coral/orange. It had medium pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to opaque coverage with a second layer.

The texture was lightweight, thin, and more watery initially but developed into a more gel-like, thicker feel that was slightly tacky. It wore well for five and a half hours with a moderate, warm red stain left behind and felt non-drying overall.
